Sarah's Visit

Today Ms. Sarah came from Cedar County Conservation and taught us about groundhogs and hibernation.  We learned 6 new things.  They are:
1. Groundhogs eat a plant called Sorel.
2. A Marmet, a cousin of the groundhog, does not poop during the winter while they are hibernating.
3. The groundhog’s heart beats 4 times a minute when they are hibernating.
4.  In the summertime, their heart beats 80 times.
5.  Groundhogs get fat during the summer.
6.  When a groundhog sees their shadow, there is 6 more weeks of winter.
